Vaishno Devi Mandir is a popular Hindu temple dedicated to the Hindu Goddess, located in the Trikuta Mountains in Jammu & Kashmir, India. Also known as Mata Rani, Trikuta and Vaishnavi.

It is a manifestation of the Hindu Mother Goddess of MahaKali, MahaSaraswati and MahaLakshmi. The words “maa” and “mata” are commonly used in India for “mother”, and thus are often used in connection with Vaishno Devi. Vaishno Devi Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Hindu Goddess, located in Katra at the Trikuta Mountains within the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Temple or Bhawan is 13.5 km from Katra and various modes of transportation are available from katra to Bhawan, including Ponies, Electric vehicles and paalkhis operated by 4 persons. Helicopter services are also available up to Sanjichhat, which is 9.5 km from Katra.

The trek itself is very enjoyable, though it might be a little difficult for kids and elderly people. The whole way is decently paved with lots of shops selling snacks, food items and various religious goods. The pilgrims show their dedication and enthusiasm by shouting slogans and singing songs in the praise of Maa Vaishnavi all along the road. Overall, a great place if you are inclined towards both Hinduism and nature.

Ardhkuwari is also known Garbh Joon. It comes in the mid way to Vaishno Devi. The belief goes on that Goddess Vaishnodevi had stayed at this place for nine months and was seen by a saint thereafter. The story about the cave’s opening too is unique which states that once Bhairon came inside this cave while chasing Mata she ran away by making way for herself through the trident. That is why the gate is uniquely shaped and was planned way to escape when Bhairon was chasing her. The location of this temple at the 4,800 kilometers height above the sea level is another importance to note.

Bhairavnath Temple is dedicated to Saint turned demon, Baba Bhairavnath.The Bahriavnath temple in Vaishno Devi is located just about 3 kilometers from the holy caves of Vaishno Devi.It is believed that the goddess herself proclaimed that no pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi will be complete without visiting Bhairav Temple.

Dera Baba Banda

Dera Baba Banda is not only a major pilgrimage centre for Sikhs but attracts people from other faiths also. It has a Gurudwara built by Baba Banda Bairaagi on the banks of river Chenab. It is a 300 years old gurudwara. Baba Banda Bahadur who was amongst the favorites of Guru Gobind Singh. Baba Banda Bahadur was a Sikh military officer whose original name was Lachhman Das.

A visit to the Vaishno Devi Mandir happens is a great Plasure and We have returned with a wish to see it again and again.
